Process Exhaust System

An industrial process exhaust system, also known as an industrial ventilation system or industrial air extraction system, is a system designed to remove contaminants, pollutants, and unwanted by products generated during various industrial processes. It is an essential component of many manufacturing and industrial facilities to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for employees, comply with environmental and local regulations, and protect equipment and products from potential damage.

Xuan-Tong (BD) Co., Ltd. also offer optimistic, economical, and customizable design, installation, and maintenance services as per client’s special requirements.

What is the purpose of an Exhaust system?

There are four purposes of an Exhaust System:

  • Provide a continuous supply of fresh outside air.
  • Remove or dilute airborne contaminants.
  • Reduce potential fire or explosion hazards.
  • Maintain temperature and humidity at comfortable levels

There are several types of industrial exhaust system, each designed to address specific requirements and conditions. Here are some common types:

  • LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) System
  • Dilution Ventilation System
  • General Exhaust Ventilation System
  • Fume Extraction System
  • Chemical Fume Scrubbers System
  • VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) System
  • BSCs (Biological Safety Cabinets) System
  • Acid Exhaust
  • Costic Exhaust
  • Solvent Exhaust
  • Heat Exhaust
  • Toxic Exhaust

The exhaust system consists of:

  • An “air intake” area
  • Ducts to move air from one area to another
  • Air cleaning device(s)
  • Fan(s) to bring in outside air and exhaust the indoor contaminated air
  • Discharge stacks

Components of an industrial process exhaust system typically include:

Hoods or capture devices: These are designed to capture contaminants at the source of their generation. Hoods come in various types depending on the specific process and contaminants involved.

Ductwork: The captured contaminants are transported through a network of ducts that connect the hoods to the main exhaust system.

Exhaust fans: These are responsible for creating the necessary airflow within the system to draw contaminants into the system and expel them to the outside environment or through additional treatment processes.

Air cleaning equipment: In some cases, the exhaust system may include devices such as filters, scrubbers, or electrostatic precipitators to further remove or neutralize pollutants before they are released into the atmosphere.

Stack or chimney: This is the final outlet through which the treated or filtered exhaust air is released into the atmosphere, typically at a safe height and distance from inhabited areas.
